Favourites
In this lesson, we’ll explore how to use the “Favourites” option to fine-tune your betting strategy by focusing on or avoiding specific favorites within a race.
Key Points:
- ๐ Including or Excluding Favourites:
- If you want to bet only on the favorite, select “Favourite” in the “Include” dropdown.
- To exclude the favorite from your bets, select “Favourite” in the “Exclude” dropdown.
- There’s no need to exclude other horses if you’re only focusing on the favourite; this is implied by your selection.
- ๐ฏ Selecting Specific Favourites:
- You can restrict your bets to any of the first six places in the race, which is particularly useful in races like the Grand National, where up to six places can be paid out.
- โ Timing and Price Integration:
- This setting works in conjunction with your other entry criteria. The favourite, or any selected position, is determined at the time your other conditions (like price and time window) are met. The favourite can change as prices fluctuate, so the software will identify the favourite within your specified entry window.
- ๐ Difference Between Favourites in Horse Selection Rules and Betting Rules:
- Horse Selection Rules: This rule uses the Betfair Starting Price (BSP) to determine which horse was the favorite at the start of the race. It’s useful for creating strategies based on historical favourites across multiple races.
- Betting Rules: This option allows you to restrict bets based on which horse is the favourite at a specific time during the market’s life, combined with your other entry settings.
By understanding and utilizing these settings, you can better control your betting strategy, focusing on or avoiding favourites as per your strategic requirements.
