We’ve had a few people asking why they need to enter their Betfair account details when they access our software.
The Betfair authorisation uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0. There’s a good explanation of this here.
Essentially, it allows you to perform actions in our software via your Betfair account (like viewing live prices, viewing your balance, placing bets) without actually sharing any of that information (or any of your login details) with us.
We cannot see any of the data in your Betfair account and you’re not submitting your Betfair username and password to us. If you look at the address bar during the Betfair login flow, you’ll notice that you’re on a betfair.com domain.
If you use any Betfair trading software like BetAngel, BetfairBotManager, Geeks Toy, etc, they all use the same mechanism to allow their apps to function.
